Round Tour - 13 Days - 12 Night

Day 1: Arrival in Sri Lanka

Arrive in Sri Lanka, where we will meet you at your hotel or at the airport in Negombo. Enjoy a trip briefing followed by a welcome dinner to start your adventure.

Day 2:Negombo to Anuradhapura

After breakfast, we begin our ride along the old coast road, passing the unique fishing boats of the Karavas community. As we cycle for 30 km along the coast, you'll get to capture stunning views of the beaches and vibrant fish markets. We then venture inland for a scenic 50 km ride before we pack up the bikes and transfer to Anuradhapura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known for its ancient ruins and rich history as the capital of the Rajarata Kingdom, Anuradhapura is a city that holds the heart of Sri Lankan civilization and Theravada Buddhism.

Day 3: Anuradhapura to Dambulla

On this day, we cycle through vast fields of paddy along a flat and picturesque route to Dambulla. In Dambulla, we visit the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, renowned for its impressive murals and Buddha statues. Nestled in a cave under a series of granite hills, this temple offers a glimpse into Sri Lanka's ancient spiritual heritage.

Day 4: Dambulla Loop

Today's ride takes us through the lush countryside on a mix of tarmac and dirt roads. We pass through orchards, elephant grass, and the scenic shores of Kandalama Lake, all while enjoying views of the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress. After parking our bikes, we hike up to the summit, where we explore the ruins of King Kasyapa’s ancient palace and admire the stunning frescoes. Later, we visit Minneriya National Park, home to elephants, leopards, and a variety of wildlife, before heading for lunch.

Day 5: Dambulla to Polonnaruwa

We start the ride with a climb over the Kaladuwa Hills, taking in the views of the surrounding wilderness. Be mindful of wild elephants as we descend. We cycle through a forest reserve before reaching Polonnaruwa, the ancient 10th-century capital of Sri Lanka. Here, we explore the well-preserved ruins and monuments of the Rajarata Kingdom. After our visit, we transfer to a peaceful hotel located on the banks of a serene reservoir.

Day 6 - Polonnaruwa to Kandy

After breakfast, we begin our journey from Polonnaruwa, cycling along the Ambon Ganga (river) towards the foothills of Naula, said to be the center of Sri Lanka. Along the way, you’ll see the impressive Moragahakanda Reservoir and, in the distance, the Knuckles Mountain Range. We stop for lunch in the spice-growing region before continuing our transfer to Kandy.

Day 7:Kandy (Free Day)

Nestled amidst picturesque hills and centered around a serene lake, Kandy is a place of cultural and religious significance. On your free day, explore the town's bustling market, visit antique and gem shops, or stroll along the lakeside. Don't miss the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which houses the most revered Buddhist relic in Sri Lanka.

Day 8:Kandy to Dickoya

After a day of rest, your legs will be ready for today's challenging ride. We transfer for the first 10 km, then cycle along minor estate roads through hilly terrain, passing Tamil communities, colorful Hindu temples, and vast tea plantations. We stop for tea before starting a 420-meter climb over 15 km, which is a steady gradient. Once we reach the highest point at 1386 meters, we descend to Nawalpitiya and head up again through tea estates, where we enjoy a local tea break. We stay in a charming colonial bungalow set amidst lovely gardens.

Day 9: Dickoya to Udawalawa

Today’s ride takes us through Sri Lanka’s tea-growing heartland, where you’ll see tea pickers at work and picturesque landscapes. We ride towards the Peak Wilderness, where the distinctive Adam’s Peak can be seen in the distance. We stop at Norwood Bazaar, and after a photo break, we continue climbing toward Bogowantalawa. After reaching the ridge, we descend via a paved switchback road to a scenic picnic spot with stunning views of Balangoda. We then transfer to a hotel near a reservoir to unwind.

Day 10: Udawalawa to Weligama (Mirissa)

We start the ride by following irrigation canals that provide water for the banana plantations. Sri Lanka boasts 14 varieties of bananas, each with unique tastes and medicinal properties. Depending on your preference, we may transfer to a beach hotel or continue cycling along rural roads. The last few kilometers will bring us to the coast along the main road.

Day 11: Weligama to Galle

On today’s ride, we pass through Sri Lanka's diverse cultivation zones, witnessing cinnamon cultivation, a key export of the island since ancient times. The southern coastal area is also famous for low-grown tea. We end the ride in the historic port of Galle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Galle offers a blend of European architecture and South Asian traditions. Enjoy a cycling tour of the old fortified city, then have time to wander through its narrow streets or stroll along the ramparts of the largest remaining European fortress in Asia.

Day 12:Galle

Spend the day exploring the charming town of Galle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its unique blend of European and South Asian architecture. You’ll have plenty of time to wander the narrow streets of the Galle Fort, visit the historic lighthouse, and enjoy the scenic views along the ramparts of the largest remaining European fortress in Asia. Galle is also home to charming shops, cafes, and beautiful beaches, making it the perfect place to relax and immerse yourself in the local culture.

Day 13: Galle

After a leisurely breakfast, we begin our transfer from Galle to Colombo, the vibrant capital of Sri Lanka. Enjoy the scenic drive along the southwestern coast, and upon arrival, you’ll have the chance to explore the city’s landmarks, markets, and vibrant atmosphere before heading to Colombo’s airport or a nearby hotel if you’re extending your stay.
